Sorry if the answer exists already

Is it "normal" that the % done is not updated ?
Since i'm using BoincView, i see :
completion = cpu time done
% done = 0.000
to completion = 0

I noticed the same problem when experimenting with older BOINC versions. It updates properly with newer versions of BOINC. I see you're running the same BOINC Jesus used when he was crunching. Maybe try the recommended version of BOINC ?

We haven't seen this problem on none of the platforms in the lab. Please make sure you use the latest and greatest boinc client from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

Other people have reported the boincview problem on other projects message boards as well, so I think this might be a bug in boincview that maybe has been solved in the latest version.

Thanks
Andre

This is not a bug in BoincView and i'm running the last version.
In the Boinc manager itself, i see the % done = 0 too.
This is the first time that i have a "problem" with this C.C
All the others projects which i'm running with this C.C report the % done.
Ehm, interesting, if i pause the wu, i can see the real estimated completion time and the % done but when i resume the wu, % done comes back to 0 (and completion = cpu time done, again).
I will keep an eye on these wus.

I am confused. When I go to http://docking.utep.edu/workunit.php?wuid=7873 and click on Result ID 39030 for computer 479 which is your computer I see the following in the report:

<core_client_version>4.32</core_client_version>
<stderr_txt>
Starting charmm run...
SUCCESS - Charmm exited with code 0.
Resolving file charmm.out...
Calling BOINC finish.

</stderr_txt>

Why does it say version 4.32 if you are running the latest version?

The latest version for Boinc View

@ Andre Kerstens
I'm running networked machines so i'm using an utility to manage them : BoincView
more suited for a network than the Boinc manager

Don't be confused.
I'm using on this networked machine the CC 4.32 and i'm using BoincView to manage my machines.
BoincView is a third party Boinc manager. :)

I know what BoincView is, I use it here too and it works well if configured to use rpc_gui for data updates rather than state file reads. I was refering to the ancient CC you use and I believe Andre referred to it too. I think you know that yet you play coy for some reason. Keep the old CC and keep the problem, if that's what you wish, but why whine and play coy about it here?

Number 1 : I don't whine and i don't play coy
Number 2 : Here (or i'm wrong), we are on an alpha project
I thought that i was allowed to report any problem.
Number 3 : I try to understand
Number 4 : Since my questions are a problem for you, don't worry ; still 2 wus (on my machine) and i will stop this project. Happy ?

@ Andre
Since the cores 4.xx have (perhaps) a problem with your application (sorry but i can't say more, i would need to update to a core 4.4x then 4.7x but if again problem, i will be wrong again...), the best would be :
- to forbid the cores 4.xx on the server side
- to update your home page in order to inform people

Thanks for your time

Alpha project yes and you are allowed to act as silly as you please. You've reported problems on other projects too, I've read your posts, and it always boils down to the fact that you INSIST on running an OLD and NOT RECOMMENDED CC against all advice, and seem to think all the projects should cater you you and your dinosaur. You should know by now that it's your CC that is the root of your problems yet you show up pretending it's something else. That's coy.

You trying to put the blame on me for leaving this project is worse than coy it's just plain bitchy. Grow up.

No. this meg is not a flame. It's an anti-stupidity pill.

We are running 5.7 on the server side. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think the API changed between 4.x and 5.x meaning that 5.x servers do probably not play well with 4.x clients. Again I'm not a 100% sure of this, but it might be best if you can update your core client to a 5.x version. This will prevent issues with all other projects that run 5.x on the server too (and most of them do I suspect).

For everybody else who runs 4.x clients: have you seen the problems that Nightbird reports on your client?

Thanks!
Andre

Most problems must be found and solved until this project goes to public. Let them out in a testing phase, otherwise there could be problems like client, manager, boincview and so on pointed out after devs started operating of D@H fully in order to study the field, competing with other scientists group. I think it's annoying. In testing phase, any points that aren't clear completely should be asked / reported, though they are well-known.

What I can say at least is that the client which isn't officially supported doesn't ensure reliability.

Correct. Any problems that you find or something you don't understand, please ask, but not before you've checked our FAQ document please.

Thanks
Andre

PS We're not planning to compete with other groups. Most groups seem to do the same, but are all doing things a little bit different. For example we are using the algorithms in Charmm to do protein-ligand docking: no other projects are using this application. That's what's science is all about! Please check the D@H Science forum for more details.

grade F

Actually I was just informing the forum and the moderators of the silly, coy little game Nightbird enjoys playing. It seems the moderators have no problem with that. Therefore I return your droll little poast stamped with an F. Perhaps re-poast it in alt.ravings.of.clowns.and.lunatics where it's guaranteed to get an A+.
