Thanks to our web designer gals Atomic, Cori and Karina, for the cool header they've designed for Docking@Home. Great piece of work!

It's great to finally see it up! It was a pleasure working on this. I think we should all give ourselves a well deserved pat on the back. Hope everything is going well at SC.

It's really better and more beautiful than the "old". ;)
Thanks for your work.

Well done, girls!
Cori seems to be getting a reputation for doing banners - see my post in the cafe....

Very nice!

A comment: If one clicks it, it does nothing. It *should* take one to the home page.

Click on the text Docking@Home and it should bring you back to the home page now. I guess you wrote this when it was being implemented :-)

Hmmm....

Nothing happens when I click anywhere on the header.

Hello zombie67,

You're right. There does seem to be a problem with the header. I just tried multiple browsers and switched to a machine with different screen resolution. If I'm full screen in 1024 by 768 resolution, clicking over the text "Docking@Home" did take me to the homepage, but the image uses a map to define the area where you can click, and the coordinates of the area to click on do not change when the browser has to re-size the image.

The img tag for the image has width=90% USEMAP="#dockmap" in it. The coordinate map always uses the coordinates coords="220,50,660,100" . I tried Mozilla 2 and IE7 on Windows XP and Mozilla 1.5 on Linux. I tried varying the screen resolution and changing the size of the browser window. The banner adjusts to the screen size but the coordinates seem to be in absolute pixels and does NOT vary with resolution or browser window size. I guess variable sized images and coordinate maps don't mix.

IIRC, you use a Mac. I don't have access to one so I can't see what their browser does when it tries to mix a resizable image with a coordinate map, but there definitely seems to be a problem.

Good catch.

Regards,

Macs can use any of the mozilla browsers or opera...but the default is Safari. Using Safari now, I dragged the pointer all over the graphic. There were several seemingly random, very small "hot spots" that took me back to the home page.

Rather than making only the letters take us home, why not make the whole graphic work that way? That is what I would have expected anyway.

Good catch. I've asked Karina to fix this tomorrow. We'll probably make the whole image clickable.

Thanks!
Andre
