http://docking.utep.edu/workunit.php?wuid=2450 .

So what's the story here? It has 4 "sucessful" returns, one error, and one unsent. No activity since 09/22(!).

1) If it (for some reason) needs that last unsent unit to validate, what's it going to take to get it sent out?

2) 4 sucessful returns, and needs only 2 for quorum. What's up with that?

Maybe I have the answer to my own qestion...

There seem to be only about 3 active intel mac users. #155, #210 (me), and #298. There are a few others, but they have either left, or have a very very small percentage allocated to docking.

When I first started a couple of weeks ago, there were several more intel macs. My guess is that intel mac users have stopped due to this thread:

http://docking.utep.edu/forum_thread.php?id=48&nowrap=true#546

Also, it seems that at least one of us may be delivering a result different enough to prevent validation. So we no longer have enough to actually get the results validated. Over a third of my results are sitting, aging, because they cannot get validated.

All guessing here...

The validation result for those is Checked, but no consensus yet . The application version is charmm 5.01, which had a bug in it that returned success sometimes for failed workunits, IIRC. I think you're going to have to wait until they get a charmm 5.02 or 5.03 for the Mac, since the website still lists charmm 5.01 as the application available for Mac OS X/Intel. IIRC, they were having problems with getting later versions of the Mac charmm application to compile and I believe a developer was on vacation for the week. They've also been asking for more Mac users to join the project.

One of the users who returned that workunit is running version 5.5.15 of the BOINC client, which seems to return data in a different format. The others are running BOINC client 5.4.9 for Mac OS X, which is the default BOINC client currently.

I suspect someone from the project is going to have to straighten this workunit out. I'm not with the project. I don't even have a Mac. My machines are running Linux and WinXP.

Wish I could help,

-- David

EDIT: I guess we were composing posts at about the same time. When I started this one, there was just the original post, but I see you've answered a lot of the questions for yourself. Sorry I couldn't help.

The boinc 5.5.x is the dev release. The usage of a dev boinc client did not harm data result format, only the stderr debuging output could be different.

In a thread I have seen, that Macs should be suspended, and we should wait for 5.02. But Andre has written in a other thread (http://docking.utep.edu/forum_thread.php?id=36&nowrap=true#638) that only windows and linux users should abort 5.01 WUs and the Mac version should be work OK.

I was little bit confused, too, and disabled work fetch for docking. But after seen Andres last posting, I have enabled work fetch again.

My vacation is going to an end, so I'll be putting all of my efforts into getting the 5.2 (5.02) mac version compiled and running. I'm not sure about the dev client; will check this with David Anderson tomorrow. Also, we haven't had many charmm errors on mac intel clients, that's why I said that crunching with 5.1 (5.01) is probably okay for the moment.

Thank for your feedback.
I am using a dev version (5.6.4 on my Mac) and have not any problem with the result output with any other project.

I too don't think it will be a version problem, but verify anyway to be sure :-)
Thanks!
