What are the credits "used" for?

I started supporting with my computers' powers just earlier this evening and I've seen a lot of talk about credits. Do these have any actual usage or are they just for showing how much time/job my computers have spent working?

No real use. They are grabbed and displayed by stats sites and many teams. If you are not interested in such, many aren't, they can be ignored. Sometimes, they can be useful in multi-computer setups to see if a machine has problems, eg. one machine gets regularly less or more credit then a similar machine, but I've not found that so.

Hi, but they do give an idea, of the work done by your host('s). And there are other projects, giving ' credit ', too. Which, on it's own, creates, (a lot of) trouble :) , sometimes. It is measured, btw, in Cobblestones (amount of FLOPS in a given time). Someone will know the exact number. ____________
