If I click on "Pending Credits" in the My Account area, it shows only two jobs Pending.

If I click on just one of my computers (210), it shows 16 jobs still Pending.

Thanks, we'll check if this is just a problem with the site, or with the credits.

I would blame page caching.

$ rm -rf PROJECT/html/cache/*

...and see if credits show OK :)

Is that directed to me? I can't tell.

It is definately not a problem with my browser cache. I forced reload, and even tried viewing the pages from different computers.

I think he was referring to the server. I could be wrong, but I have seen this happen with other projects.

Why do I always forget to clarify that? *slaps self* ;)

Server has caching of some pages including server status, workunit and result details, top users/hosts/teams, user details, and probably pending credits page too. This is to avoid loading database too much. On other projects, there is a little text on the bottom of these pages saying when they were generated, looks like that doesn't show here.

Any news? The problem is still there. Nicholas seems to think is is a cache problem, which sould be a quick thing to verify.

Thanks.

I just cleared the cache. Hope it fixes the problem for now.

We'll look to see if this is a recurring problem for other projects, and if anyone has come up with a permenent solution. Please let us know if this continues to happen. Thanks.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. "Pending credit" shows 9 work units. Computer #210 shows 27 work units pending.

This is a Mac. I wonder if it could be related to the bug where successful work units are credited with 0?

Here is an example of one WU. It has *4* successful jobs returned, but still pending.

http://docking.utep.edu/workunit.php?wuid=2450 .

That results from that the value of "initial replication" is 5, which means that the copies of the WU will be issued 5, while the value of the minumum quorum is 2. Normally the values doesn't need to be different. Is there any reason? eg testing of adjustment or calibration of every workunit

edit:
For example,
http://www.malariacontrol.net/workunit.php?wuid=602732
http://spin.fh-bielefeld.de/workunit.php?wuid=73775

The values of initial replication and mininum quorum are same.

These are 5.1 (5.01) results in this workunit which are known to cause problems for a while already and should all have been aborted by now. I will write a news item for the frontpage again on this to make sure people abort these results.

Thanks
Andre

You do realize we are talking about a mac, right? There is only 5.1 available.

Is this the problem that is posted on the "news" for Oct. 4 for "pending" results for Intel Macs. If so, the problem seems to have disappeared with version 5.2 of Charmm. All the problems you have are with 5.1, aren't they? Or are you seeing something else with the 5.2 version as well?

Correct. All the pending results are for intel macs and have to do with the problem we described on the front page news. I'm not sure it is only a 5.1 problem yet, but we'll know soon enough, because 5.2 is now out for 2 days and we should be getting some more results back for a cannonical result.

[edit] I've just manually granted credit to all the pending, valid results. Hope that makes some people happy :-) I'll keep an eye on any further pending results that come in.

Do you mean for just the 5.01 WUs?

Also, how long will this take to show up? It is now 3 hours since your post, but I still have many pending 5.01 credits. "Valid State" are "Initial".

Whatever you did, it is now invalidating all the results that I just turned in with 5.2. :-( The WUs are 3510 3475 2312 2704 2702 2877 5937 3613

Should I abort all my present WU's that I am working on?

See, that's what you get when you try to do good and correct a running system :-)
I see what we can do about the invalid/valid ones later.

Might not be a bad idea actually, so that way you won't get anymore for which a cannonical result has been found anymore.

Thanks

If the validate state is initial that means that the workunit is still waiting for more valid results to reach a quorum. For example this is one of yours and as you can see it has two successful results and 1 still in progress.

Please check the details of the status of the whole workunit before posting. Of course if it is still not clear from that info then please ask :-)

Thanks

I understand how it works. The problem is that you told us all to abort the remaining 5.01 tasks. That "1 still in progress" really isn't. So how will a WU with 2 valid results ever get the 3rd valid result needed to award credits?

Also, the original problem for this thread still exists. In my account area, when clicking on "Pending Credits", it currently shows 28. When looking at computer 210, it shows 30. They don't match.

When the "still in progress" one times out (Outcome: "No reply"), server will send a new result.

That's a good question. I'm not sure if boinc will send out a new result with the 5.01 app or the new 5.02. I would think 5.02, because that's the current version that hosts have. In the other case, you would have to download a 5.01 again and I don't think I ever saw that happening.
