This workunit is a thrilling story. I followed it from the start:

http://docking.utep.edu/workunit.php?wuid=19778

It will take at least one more result to get two valids. Let's see if we will have two winners.

Regards

Alex

Congratulations!

Alex,

We can make a new HR group for the K6 machines. Problem is that we have exactly 3 Linux K6 and 3 Windows K6 machines; it will take ages to get work validated if we go that route. Then again, we probably have to, because K6's generate different results from everybody else.

Thanks Andre. Please don't get me wrong, I was neither complaining nor sarcastic here. Just a little bit of fun about this workunit and its 'story'.

As I said before, IMHO the last resort would be setting higher hardware requirements as a minimum for the project (after the alpha test) instead of having a handful of K6 waiting forever for validation.

I added a K6 to the Windows machines. Tell me if you'd rather have it Linux.

The AMD K6 machines now have their own HR class. Let us know how that works out.

I don't know when this will take effect, the last WU (22097) from my poor little K6 was lumped with a AMD X2 dual core......ouch.

Yep, I guess you won't get credit for this one (been there). But the second WU (22173) has been given to another K6...

I suspect this one was just before the HR change. The next workunit you have has already been assigned to another K6, but the third might take a while since we don't have many yet...

I'm going to shut that machine down when it finishes the WU it is crunching. Just too little results for the resources spent on it.

Here is another workunit, which was turned to an unexpected direction by HR and the new features of the 5.8.x BOINC application:

Workunit ID 20567

On the 11th of January I returned the first result with a Pentium III. On the 16th of January the second result was returned by an Athlon. Then two Pentium II/III-class computers did not return their results in time. On the 5th of February the third result was returned by a Core 2 and the validator reported 'Checked, but no consensus yet', which is no surprise.

Now the fourth result has been send to another Core 2. If it returns the workunit, it will most likely be valid together with the other Core 2 result. If it does not return the result in time, then it all depends on who gets the fifth. Fortunately we have not reached the limits for maximum error/total/success results yet.

Thrilling, isn't it? ;-)

Alex
