Why do I not have pending or granted credit for results I have returned?

It basically means that the result you retured has a different value from the other two results and therefore was marked invalid. Other people have reported problems with their pIII as well. We are investigating this.

Thanks

It will really help us if you leave it running. Since at some point we need to check if we succeed with the fix.

If you need that computer for other things feel free to suspend until further notice.

Thanks for your patience.

I'll leave it attached. It has an initially valid result pending. I plan to attach another PIII Copermine when I get a hard drive for it. It currently runs Knoppix

I'd be happy to help test out your pIII fix as soon as you have one available. I'm eager to get mine docking!

heh, just now saw this thread. Just a few hours ago, I attached 25 P3s to this project, hashclash, and a few others that do not have work (pirates), all are 866 Coppermine with 256-384MB RAM. So in a few hours you should be getting in a few extra WUs form my P3s. I also have some of my P4s attached, but they are doing other work at the same time. So this should provide a far amount of info for you guys. If you need me to send any other data, just ask, and ill see what I can do. BTW, the P3s have a less accurate FP calculation than AMD and the P4s (calculates to less decimal places).

Probably obvious to you guys but it works in reverse also. I get credit when two coppermines return a result first which means the other platform probably gets no credit.

That is correct. If the PIII's happen to be the first two to return a result, they will probably get the credit for it. Of course, usually they will be beaten by a faster machine so it doesn't happen that often.

Memo is currently looking into this issue and we hope we'll have figured out soon why the difference exists.

The reason itself is invalid, but perhaps it's rare for athlon to have the same kind of error.

Your result was different from the two other sucessful results in the workunit (although just by a little bit).

Your result:
REMARK 1TNG RUN NUMBER 58
REMARK RMSD 0.651144
REMARK ENERGY -24.5711

The other results:
REMARK 1TNG RUN NUMBER 30
REMARK RMSD 0.650991
REMARK ENERGY -24.6184

This is because of the redundancy mechanism built in BOINC: in this case two got credit because they are the same and your result which was different from the other two did not get any credit because of that reason. Why yours was different I'm not sure of since all the other results that PC crunched seem to be okay. Maybe your cpu was running hotter than usual or there is another hardware or software problem. Hard to say.

Hope that helps.
Andre
