won't show name or team name in boinc client!

I've never had that problem with my BOINC clients. If you still have that problem, I'd suggest two things:

1. Experimenting with whether using a new user name without the }{ characters offers any help.

2. Giving more information about which version of BOINC you are using under what version of which operating system.

He is in SETI.USA so the use of brace characters should not affect that.

Are you saying that this does not show?

As an asside, you may want to loose the brace characters anyway, they make you look childish.
