I have received an E-Mail informing me that we are losing Andre on the 4th of May.

This is sad, as through Andre I have a rapore with this project that I just don't have on any other.

I do another Alpha project called Ralph@home but my messages there take forever to get an answer or I get no answer at all, they don't seem to care.

Your good humour and quick respones will be sorely missed, as well as your programming work on Docking and improving the project (with help from the rest of the team and us volunteers of course, don't want you getting a swelled head).

Enjoy what ever you are off to do, try and get some flying in if you can.

Thanks mate for all your help since I joined.

After working on the project for more than one and a half year, Andre is leaving the project next week, May 4. He will still work with us to make sure that the forum and the news will be up-to-date but will no longer work full time on the system . We will miss Andre a lot; he has been a valuable collaborator for all of us.

Good luck Andre... hope to see you once and a while... ;-)

Gosh, this sounds like I have passed away or something :-) And of course I haven't! I'll still be around on the project, just not in an 'official' manner anymore, but more like a volunteer like everybody else. But thanks for the kind words Conan, I really appreciate that. I from my side like to thank all of our volunteers (most I know by name or avatar by now :-) for all their patience, testing and suggestions. Without that we wouldn't be were we are now. We still got a ways to go to get to the next beta phase though, which as it seems now will probably be in Delaware.

Anyway, keep in touch!
Andre

PS For those of you that don't know, I happen to be married to Michela, so don't worry that you won't see me anymore; she will force me to do some work for the project in my spare time ;-)

No wonder you have not done much flying then, the cheese and kisses has you working all the time.

Happy to have Docking@home on their campus ?

From a paid employee I basically become a volunteer like yourself.

Of course! That's why they hire Michela: to get free world-wide advertisement of their university. Hords of new students will apply to them just because they have heard of the university from their favorite boinc project. That's a no-brainer isn't it?

Cheers

Good luck Andre!

Sorry to hear you're leaving UT. It's a great system. I did my grad work at UT - Austin.

I agree that's it's too bad you're moving to the East coast, but I bet it'll be nice to see some trees!

Andre, are you actually building a plane? Which one? I haven't flown since 1991, and I miss it!

This seems to be the most likely candidate: http://www.vansaircraft.com/public/rv-9int.htm
Don't you just love the looks of this plane...

A very nice looking "bird" that is. ;-)

Btw: Does it have an airborne computer? Can it crunch a bit of Docking while flying? (Only kidding... *grin*)

I would like to wish Andre, Michela and the project my best.

"No matter where you go, there you are."

And we participants have also come to know you and your avatar, Andre. Stay in touch even if it is in an un-official capacity.

As an east-coaster myself, welcome. Hop on down to our island and beaches sometime, I'm sure their much better than Delaware's.

Let us know where that island and beach is and we'll fly by. Do you happen to have a runway in your backyard ;-)

Thanks
Andre

Slap on some pontoons and, land in the sound, its a big target and easier to hit than a runway ;)

Actually there is a runway or two nearby. Manteo Airport on Roanoke Island and there is a smaller field located just behind the Wright Brothers monument. Ever hear of a place called Kill Devil Hills, but there is only one hill or Kitty-Hawk, Nags Head, Cape Hatteras, etc, etc. Its all close by. Its all barrier islands located in the farthest eastern part of North Carolina.
