It looks like the task is requiring more cpu time than the estimate. This is not related to windows. This will happen to other machines too. We will create workunits with higher cpu time requirement. Thanks for your feedback.

Most of the ones I got have been erring out too, I'll probably just abort the rest as I don't really care to waste the CPU Time on Wu's that won't finish properly through no fault of the PC's.

The units I ran with the new checkpointing system all failed at just under an hour. I aborted the rest, but there is one still running, currently at about 30 minutes.

Error on Linux as well, looks like the same one:

<core_client_version>5.10.45</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
Maximum CPU time exceeded
</message>
<stderr_txt>
Calling BOINC init.
Starting charmm run (initial or from checkpoint)...

</stderr_txt>
]]>

The whole WU was done this way by all crunchers , even the ones woth only 1sec on the clock.

I've got two other ones this night, they both went fine.

Likewise I am getting the same error on Windows, no matter how long the units take. All others on the same unit get the same result, even though processing times vary considerably. I think these will all fail or need to be aborted.

This unit and this unit both got the CPU Time Exceeded message, but were crunching happily until then.

This one I've suspended (about twenty mins in) until further instruction.

I suspect many of the WUs might also miss the deadline because their estimated runtime is so much lower than actual runtime that BOINC won't realize that it needs to run them in high priority mode until it's too late to meet the (rather short) deadlines. I'm still getting WUs that claim they will run in 15 - 20 minutes but once they start, it begins to look more like they'll take 2 - 3 hours.

I'm getting this Windows XP Error:

6/14/2008 17:06:59|Docking@Home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 3822 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
6/14/2008 17:07:04|Docking@Home|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks
6/14/2008 17:07:04|Docking@Home|Message from server: No work sent
6/14/2008 17:07:04|Docking@Home|Message from server: Charmm with screensaver is not available for your type of computer.

then it holds for 24 hours before ne conecction to server. Does that mean no windows work?

Are you running Boinc 6.X?

One of my PC with 6.X gets the same messages.

May be you have to downgrade.

Which version of boinc are you running? I was testing ver. 6.2.4 on WinXP and kept receiving the same message. Downgrading to 5.10.45 seems to have fixed that problem as I am now receiving the "there was work but it was committed to other platforms" message.

If the Charmm with screensaver application doesn't work with ver. 6.2.x that could be a problem as the boinc developers are looking to make the 6.2 branch the recommended version soon.

Hi, can you please give us more information about your problem? Are you not able to join D@H or any BOINC project?
