hi,
I'm a new user and finding it difficult to get started...i have installed the software but confused as to how to go about it...please help...

Ok, after you open the boinc client, click on the "Tools" menu, click on the "Attach to project or account manager".

select "Attach to project", click "Next", and you will see a list of projects that you can connect, choose "Docking@Home", and click "Next".

you will see the page "Identify your account", if you don't have an account, click "new user", otherwise click "existing user", enter your email address and password, if it goes successfully to the end, you should see "Attached to project", just click "Finish".

then you are good to go :) It should download work for your automatically, if something went wrong, you can check the message/log for details (name may be different depending on the client version you are using). Please let me know if this works for you. Thanks!
