All WUs run fine on my Vista machines, but on my Win7 64bit boxes I'm getting consistent 0% progress, and the WUs will just keep running and running even when the "To Completion" column in Boinc Manager has run down to zero.

Hi BF,

Have you tried to run the BOINC application in a compatibility mode? Haven't done it with BOINC (not running it on W7 64 bit machine) but it does seem to allow other applications to run that fail in native.

I am now getting the same problem since switching Win7-64 to a rig with a Q9550 and P43 chipset. All other configurations did run fine (XP 64 on this host or Win7-64 on i7 rigs).

I also have a Q9550 and win7 64 bit and am having the issue of sitting at 0% indefinitely even though the docking processes are running and using cpu time |

Same issue here.. My Win7 64bit docking WU's stay at zero and reset themselves to zero time elapsed every minute or so. We are looking at the issue. It was not present in the pre-testing phase of the complex on our testing machines. More very soon, Michela ____________ If you are interested in working on Docking@Home in a great group at UDel, contact me at 'taufer at acm dot org'! |

It is possible that your signature file got corrupted somehow since I did not see the same problem with other volunteers, could you try reset the docking project? This should update your files. Let me know if this helps!

I just switched over a Q9650 from WIN/XP to WIN7 Ultimate and have the same problem. The other XEON-based machines have no such issue. I do note that only two of these WU's are claimed to be running but there are no less than EIGHT separate charmm34_6.23_windows_x86_64 executables running. I don't see this on any of the other machines.

The current Boinc server does not allow us to collect enough information to diagnose this problem, nor can we reproduce the same issue on our test machines. We are working on an upgrade of Boinc server and since the team members all have course works during the semester, it takes a little longer than expected. We will keep you posted, stay tuned!

Can I ask what the status is with this problem? It looks like my team is gonna visit Docking soon with some CPU power but if this issue is gonna effect a lot of our crunchers they probably will stop cruncing WU's for Docking and that is not what we would like to see...

Same problem here using Win 7 64bit and Q9550. Over 8 hours now apiece and nothing. Amazing how an important project like this can allow this bug to last such a very long time *sigh* |

I've experienced no problems with my C2Q-Q6600 , AMD 1090t , and i5-2410M hosts all running Win7-64 and BOINC 6.12.34. From what i'm noticing, it seems to be people with the G43 chipset that are having the issue. The first time i ever crunched docking was on a G33 chipset. Worked fine. I've also crunched Docking with P67. Again, works fine. But this G43, which is the only rig i have going at the moment, just won't do it. |

Both G33 and G41 have an integrated graphics core, which most crunchers will disable because a GPU works so much better. Can the disabling of the integrated CPU graphics be the cause of the 0% progress? |

Can the disabling of the integrated CPU graphics be the cause of the 0% progress? But have you disabled the onboard graphics in the BIOS? Merely adding a GTX 570 will not disable the onboard graphics. If I'm right, this problem will only occur with systems using a G31, G33, G35, G41, G43 or G45 chipset with disabled onboard graphics. On my A75 Llano system I have the onboard graphics enabled (for the A6-3500), on my Z68 i3-2100 system I have the onboard graphics enbled for future use of the Intel HD 2000 onboard graphics. ____________ |

My C2Q uses a G33 and I run a GTX 570. So, the addition of a dedicated GPU isn't a problem in my case.But have you disabled the onboard graphics in the BIOS? I checked my BIOS and can't tell for sure if the onboard graphics is explicitly disabled, but I don't think it is. The only setting in my BIOS that's graphics related is called "Init Display First". The options are "PCI Slot" and "Onboard" and mine is set to "PCI Slot". That wording seems to imply that an installed GPU is a first choice rather than the onboard graphics being disabled. I may very well misunderstand, though. ____________ |

I switched from abc@home to Docking, to take part in the DPC stampede currently underway, but while my old server is happily (slowly) crunching and earning credit, my main PC is crunching and crunching for hours and hours, but progress stays at 0%.

Hi so I have been crunching D@H for years with no issue, I just upgraded my PC from a Dell XPS420 with a Core2 Q6600 2.66Ghz to an Ivy Bridge i7 3770K OCd to 4.2Ghz and at the exact same time I have got the issue on this thread, all WUs sitting at 0% progress and continuing to crunch even though the estimated time has reached zero. My machine didnt come pre-overclocked and this issue occurred even at stock speeds.

This computer is running Windows 7 Professional I am using a dual core Intel running at around 2.5 GHz, motherboard is an Intel board using the Intel G41 Express chipset, I have 4gig of memory running at 800 MHz. Everything thing else runs fine including the 10 other BOINC projects I am currently running. But with Docking the progress reports as zero, there isn't any time left being shown but the working time continues to climb. I think I will discontinue running this project for awhile, hopefully I can come back at a later date and the issues wil be resolved. This project works fine on my 32 bit XP machine so I will continue to run it there. |

Like so many others here, I am having difficulty with zero-progress workunits under Win7. As I see that the issue seems unresolved, I have disconnected Docking in my account manager.

I've been running Docking workunits on my 64bit Win7 computer for months now without such a problem. Your computer must be different from mine in some important way to have such a problem. Also, note that your post is the first post in this thread for about a year. You may need to check whether the date on your computer is set to the correct month and the correct year. |

11/13/2013 10:48:18 PM | Docking | task 1ebz1ohr_mod0014crossdockinghiv1_35109_223951_0 aborted by user Quite likely, because you are now the only one with this problem and you aren't sending enough information back to the server to identify what the problem is. Some items that might help us provide information: What is the update status of Windows 7 on that computer? Is SP1 installed? How up-to-date are you on installing the other Windows 7 updates? What version number of BOINC are you using? What is your setting on how much of the memory BOINC can use? Is BOINC allowed to keep workunits in memory while they are suspended, but BOINC is still running? What number driver are you using for that GT 630? Could you post some excerpts from the BOINC log file? For example, the first part gives some of the information I mentioned above, and a few recent lines giving the events related to a few Docking workunits may contain other useful information. |

Do you run BOINC as a windows service?
|
||
ID: 7171 | Rating: 0 | rate: /
Do you run BOINC as a windows service? No, I am not running BOINC as a service, I have BOINC Manager set to run on login. I have not had any problems with other projects (climateprediction & rosetta). The last WU that ran for folding, finally gave up with a Computation error. However, I cannot find any output files in the project folder. The only "non-standard" setting I have is that I run BOINC (installation and data folders) on a secondary drive (i.e. D: rather than C:). Could this be an incompatibility with this project? I also found that I kept getting very high CPU usage, which I've not experienced with other projects. For the moment, I have suspended this project so that I'm not wasting processing time. |
||
ID: 7172 | Rating: 0 | rate: /
I also am having a problem with 64 bit Win 7 and the problem has been ongoing for quite some time and has not been resolved. I see work units that are supposed to take less than 3 hours take up over 24 hours of processor time, tie up both cores, and produce nothing. I am not getting any additional work units. I will check back in a few months and maybe you will have resolved the Windows 7 issues. There are other worthwhile projects that efficiently use my donated time to produce good results. |
