Message boards : Number crunching : Very short WUs ( Message 4690 )Posted 3134 days ago by Buffalo Bill I keep 2 days cache on my Windows machine and it loaded up with many WU's when there was a lot of short units. Now they are taking hours instead of minutes and I won't be able to finish them before the deadlines. Should we abort overdue WU's? |

Message boards : Number crunching : Some more PII/PIII w/ Windows? Anyone? :-) ( Message 2072 )Posted 3861 days ago by Buffalo Bill Thanks for the replies. I'll look into those. It's been a good reliable machine for a long time and I can't bring myself to dump it at the recycle depot. Bill |

Message boards : Number crunching : Some more PII/PIII w/ Windows? Anyone? :-) ( Message 2060 )Posted 3863 days ago by Buffalo Bill Andre, I'll look into it further but I've never installed Linux and don't know much about it except how to navigate around. The SuSE site says I need 256 MB which I don't have. I tried to upgrade it a year ago but I couldn't find the RAM I need even at the used parts stores. That's why it's retired now. The one Linux box I have FC5 on was installed for me by a neighbour. Bill |

Message boards : Number crunching : Some more PII/PIII w/ Windows? Anyone? :-) ( Message 2058 )Posted 3863 days ago by Buffalo Bill I have an Intel PII 333 with 192 MB that I could fire up but I don't know if the project will support WIN 98SE. It's been off for a while but it used to crunch Rosetta just fine. Bill |

Message boards : Number crunching : How to make hosts "hidden"? ( Message 1861 )Posted 3881 days ago by Buffalo Bill Hi suguruhirahara, Under "Docking@Home preferences", setting the following to "No" will hide your hosts: Should Docking@Home show your computers on its web site? It can take a little time to actually hide them. This feature is there for those who are uncomfortable showing information on the internet. I think the project team can see all hosts. You can't if they are hidden. As for how an "anonymous" host is created, I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can help here. |
