Message boards : Number crunching : HELP - Consistant 0% Progress - Client Problem?

( Message 5401 )
Posted 2882 days ago by j2satx
I have a laptop which is refusing to budge past zero percent unit progress despite eating cpu.

Symptoms are:-
2 processes running at approx 50% cpu, each using 653kb ram, exe's are charmm34_6.23_windows_x86_64, processes run continuously >6 hours with zero progress, time remaining does not change from approx 4 hours.

Setup:-
CPU is T9800 dual core 2.93Ghz, Laptop is genuine licensed 64bit Windows 7 ultimate (from MSDN).

Tried:-
I have reset the project, detached and reattached, uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off DEP and still no luck. If I close the client and stop the processes the units restart from 0 time again.

Please help...

I have the same issue on one Intel CPU Q9550. My other Intel CPUs (Q6600, Q6700, Q9300, Q9450) with same mobo run Docking fine. All W7RC 64-bit.

I did not find a solution to the issue, I just stopped running Docking on the Q9550.

I do not have any problem viewing the newsletters nor any of the project papers. I am using the current version Adobe Reader 9.

Those two 2008 project papers do not have any links available for anyone to read. Perhaps there is a waiting period before they become public.

I misunderstood your first msg.

Now I see you are correct, there appears to be no link for the papers.

The two project papers for 2008 listed on this website are not available. All of the other papers listed for earlier years are available.

When will these two papers become available for viewing? I am interested in reading one of them.

I had the same problem getting the new newsletters. My Acrobat version was too old.

Are you using a new version of Acrobat? If not, try a newer version.

Can't access.

The newsletter is larger than the past newsletters (~4MB). You may need a couple of seconds or so.

Turns out to be an Adobe Acrobat versioning issue. I use the full version Acrobat 5.0, not the reader. On another machine with a newer version of Acrobat Reader, I don't have any problem.

I'll just install a newer version of Acrobat Reader in a VM and my issue is resolved.

Thanks.

Message boards : Number crunching : To many compute errors

( Message 4805 )

I'm having the same misfortune today. Several WUs so far have run for 7 or 8 hours and then throw computation error.

I'm going to abort every WU I currently have and get all new ones. If any show the same problem, I'll go NNW until it is resolved.

I don't think it is normal, let us know if the problem goes away, in the meantime we will investigate the cause

Same this morning........400+ completed WUs sitting in Boincview looking at me.

Not sure it is a problem, maybe just an oddity.

Since yesterday, Docking must be "manually" updated to get my completed WUs reported.

The tables under Status, Distribution should be the same height.

Message boards : Number crunching : Not getting work

I had to reduce the amount of work because we change the protein and I was expecting some nasty problems. I didn't want to distribute many of those. Now it seems to be stable and we are going back to our usual generation of work.

Thank you
