Message boards : Number crunching : Who is overclocking their machine?

Of my systems:

Host 292 runs at stock speed, P4 2.6 with HT
Host 261 runs at stock speed, PIII 800ish (and might I congratulate you on fixing the PIII validation thingy)
Host 35 is overclocked roughly 20%, AMD Athlon XP core running at 2147. I have no idea what the actual stock is as it's not marked.

If you're still looking for result numbers with large outputs, http://docking.utep.edu/workunit.php?wuid=14697 errored out when my system froze and uploaded about 13mb. Should still be in your DB.

I'm pretty sure the lockup was not caused by BOINC or Docking.

Message boards : Number crunching : zero credits for valid result??

Your CPU is from the PIII era. Not likely to be granted any credits until the validator issue has been resolved. It's being worked on currently.

mmmh... that makes me ask a maybe stupid question:
A different answer to the same WU doesn't mean a wrong answer? In this case the problem is not in the validator but in the cruncher application...

It's not actually a problem with the validator, that is working as intended. The problem is that even though the result is probably right, it is different therefore invalid.

Just out of interest on what i should attach to this project.

I just threw a 2Ghz Celery system at it as a test and was wondering if i should even bother on my 700Mhz system?

Might be a little late for this discussion but a 700mhz system is a PIII class?

If so, there have been some issues with validating results. The CPU will handle the work just fine but you may get no credit for it. Last I heard it's still being worked on. The project staff could give you more detailed information.

Thanks Suguru,

We'll look at the first issue. I cannot reproduce the 2nd issue; could you describe the steps you take more in detail or send me a screenshot?

Andre

Though I don't know whether these are known issue, I found a couple of issues.

1. rating doesn't work.
2. when reporting a post, then this message appears: "Unable to handle request" User with id FORUM_MODERATION_EMAIL_USER_ID created but nothing returned from DB layer

Thanks,

You can't spend it, but it also doesn't cost the project to supply it. Things don't have to be of value to be valuable.

It's a pity that some people feel they have to resort to unethical means to 'win' something that isn't even a contest.

Sorry for all the trouble, that I seem to have caused. Just wanted to make clear, that this was not an attempt to cheat. The other projects, that I run at the moment, do not make use of the boinc scores for crediting, so for them it makes no difference, which client is used.
Docking seems to rely on these benchmarks, so after reading Billys post in the macnn forum, I have installed a standard client now.

That line wasn't actually directed at you. It's for the people with the 5.5.0 client. Just looked like a good opportunity to bring up a similar issue.
