Message boards : Number crunching : Is work generation over now or not until tomorrow ?

( Message 7273 )
Posted 1197 days ago by Boyu Zhang
Hey David,

It will keep distributing until the end of today :-)

Thanks,
Boyu

Today is April 30th. Does that mean that today is the last day work will be generated or that today is the first day that no work will be generated?

Message boards : Number crunching : Shortage of work?

Thanks for the active crunching!! :-) I will increase again so that we use 80% of the shared memory capacity. Let's see if the server generates more work after a short while.

Thanks much!
Boyu

Stop hogging all the WU's Mumps!!! Leave some for the rest of us!!!

I wish I *was* hogging them all. But I'm still just limping along with just about nothing in cache like the rest of the community. :)

And Mumps.... it's a shame you haven't rejoined TPR for the last few days... with your output we would have finally caught P3D

Won't say I hadn't considered it. :)

Still seems to be having problems meeting demand. Is there anything else you can do, Boyu, to get a few more WU's making it out to the party?

I doubled the size of the workunit generator, let's see if the server can pick up shortly. Thanks for the good work! :-)

Would it be possible to get the Work Generator working a little harder? We're having a bit of a tough time throwing you a proper Going Away Party with it being so hard to get work. :)

Hi brutis,

Can you please let me know on which host are you having this problem? I only see this host registered to your account: http://docking.cis.udel.edu/community/show_host_detail.php?hostid=196306 , and all the workunits are in progress.

Thanks,
Boyu
Hi,

After a couple of years away I aimed my 4p back at D@H and started to get a bunch of computational errors. Anyone have any ideas?

Ubuntu 12.04, AMD MC 12core, 32GB, BOINC client 7.0.65

TIA

Message boards : Number crunching : Problem to report WUs

( Message 7152 )
Posted 1426 days ago by Boyu Zhang
This is a new issue that we did not see in our test clients, can you please let me know which host do you refer to? I saw 5 hosts and they look normal, some workunits are in progress, others are successfully returned and given credits.

How does this error affect you in the client side? Are you able to report the completed tasks and get new tasks?

Thanks,
Boyu
On one of my clients the following messages appears if I try to report WUs:

Docking 13-09-2013 13:35 Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
Docking 13-09-2013 13:35 Reporting 130 completed tasks
Docking 13-09-2013 13:35 Not requesting tasks
Docking 13-09-2013 13:35 [error] No close tag in scheduler reply

Is that a known issue? What could I do?

Kind regards

Message boards : Docking@Home Science : Run out of work?

( Message 7113 )

Hi seybernetx,

Could you let us know: how many workunits are running simultaneously on your dual-core host? And which projects are they from? Are they CPU or GPU workunits?

Thanks,
Boyu

UPDATE -

Good News: I now have a work unit from Docking.

Bad News: I have a dual-core system. As of this morning, BOINC(?) seems to have decided that it will only use one of these CPU's, leaving the other one idle a lot of the time, even with a couple work units from other projects sitting waiting to run. ehh???

Suggestions welcome.
