Message boards : Number crunching : Pending Credits Problem

Any news? The problem is still there. Nicholas seems to think is is a cache problem, which sould be a quick thing to verify.

Thanks.

I just cleared the cache. Hope it fixes the problem for now.

I think he was referring to the server. I could be wrong, but I have seen this happen with other projects.

We'll look to see if this is a recurring problem for other projects, and if anyone has come up with a permenent solution. Please let us know if this continues to happen. Thanks.

Hi all,

I just wanted to give everyone an update from the project side. I am currently working on adding code to change the stack size limit from the application. This is not an ideal solution because it may not work for everyone depending on your system settings.

We are also looking at the possibility of building a smaller version of the charmm application. This may take some time, because we need to make sure the smaller version works with our input files, and does indeed fix the stack problem.

Both of these are short term solutions. In the long term, we are working on moving to a newer version of the charmm application, but obviously this will take more work, and time, on our side.

Thank you all for your help, and patience.

Thanks, we'll check if this is just a problem with the site, or with the credits.

If I click on "Pending Credits" in the My Account area, it shows only two jobs Pending.

If I click on just one of my computers (210), it shows 16 jobs still Pending.

I'm not sure what's going on here. I'll see if we can figure out why these are not reaching consensus. Thanks.

What's wrong with the success ones to reach no consensus?

Where is ulimit located? I am getting "command not found", and I cannot locate it anywhere.

I'm having the same problem, running Xubuntu (XFCE uses Terminal). Ulimit, limit, none of them work! :-(

Additionally, this is what happened when I've crunched my first WU:

Wed 20 Sep 2006 05:36:36 PM AST|Docking@Home|Starting task 1tng_mod0001_1530_1466_4 using charmm version 502
Wed 20 Sep 2006 05:40:44 PM AST|Docking@Home|Unrecoverable error for result 1tng_mod0001_1530_1466_4 (process exited with code 1 (0x1))
Wed 20 Sep 2006 05:40:44 PM AST|Docking@Home|Deferring scheduler requests for 1 minutes and 0 seconds
Wed 20 Sep 2006 05:40:44 PM AST||Rescheduling CPU: application exited
Wed 20 Sep 2006 05:40:44 PM AST|Docking@Home|Computation for task 1tng_mod0001_1530_1466_4 finished

ulimit is a shell parameter for bash (and other shells). I am not familiar with Xubuntu/XFCE, but its shell should have a similar parameter. You can try looking the man pages for references to the stack size.

I'm not sure if the error you are getting is related, but I will look into this too. Thanks

Correction:

The fix only eliminates the
cboinc_is_standalone returned : 0
message.

We have identified the resean for the -131 error and hope to have it fixed in a day or so.

Richard.

We removed this debug information from the Windows executable. You should update your project and that shold fix the problem.

My first result on my Intel P4 3.06GHz completed in 4:28 hours (running BOINC only while I slept). A little longer than the 1.5 hours (1:30) noted on the front page.

But it shows as client error:

<core_client_version>5.4.11</core_client_version>
<stderr_txt>
_is_standalone returned : 0
cboinc_is_standalone returned : 0

. edited out above line repeated 1892 more times.
