Message boards : Number crunching : Project at 100 Percent but does not close

10/17/2010 10:59:58 AM Docking Task 1dif1ebz_mod0014crossdockinghiv1_10249_239258_0 is 0.69 days overdue; you may not get credit for it. Consider aborting it.

The above 4+ hour project was completed well before time but would not close. What is the problem? I would like to get credit for the project.

I run Win7 - 64 on an Intel Quad 4. Plenty of memory and disk space.

Thanks for any help to pry the project loose.

Stacey Baird

you won't get any credit for it.

the best thing you can do, is to let the the wu finish before the deadline and give all available resources to the wu. i know when my mom and step-dad were over there, the power kept going out... does that happen a lot?

Message boards : Number crunching : Mostly just curious

( Message 6052 )

I'm running Docking on several crunchers - most of them being dual core 3 Gb with about 2 Gb of ram running on Windows XP Pro.
What has me curious is the large swings in run times going from around 9000 sec of CPU time to around 40000 sec. I've seen times of anywhere from 8 hours to over 40 hours on the same box.
My question is - why the huge difference?

some other program must be eating up your ram, causing the processor give more cycles to the other program...

I've seen this when i play a game or just have more than 3 browsers open on my laptop which is old...

it could also have something to do with heat. how hot your processor gets.

Message boards : Number crunching : credit anomalies ?

( Message 6030 )

All of my recent WUs
take ABOUT the same amount of time and
claim ABOUT 70 credits.
Most of them
receive ABOUT 140 credits
but a few
receive EXACTLY 102.00 credits.
Is this a feature or a bug ?

i think everyone's does this, nothing to worry about, i think that if you look closely, you will notice a difference in the run times. cpu wise.

Message boards : Number crunching : Work unit order doesn't make sense

( Message 6025 )
Posted 2517 days ago by zpm
Starting about a week or 2 ago, my computers started running the workunits in a funny order. It has some due on say, 9/16, but is choosing to run ones due on 9/25 as high priority. In addition, it seems to keep changing its mind about what's high priority and what isn't, so I have tons of 1/2 completed workunits waiting to run. Some were at 97% completed when the cruncher decided to start on another unit instead. I initially cleared this issue by suspending workunits that aren't due for some time for ones due sooner and got it back on track, but now it's doing it again. I want to shut off network access until it clears the current queues and then start with all fresh units, but many will expire before then. Any idea what's up?

in boinc, go to computing preferences change "switch between apps every" up to 1000000000000000000 or 99999999999 minutes.

also, update your version to the latest official version. some version had a priority bug.

Hi all,

just having a problem getting my account linked to the client! I know I've set the account up correctly - not the first time I've used BOINC. I'm able to log into the website (in other words I know my email & password >< I'm connecting to the right URL (copy & pasted from the D@H website & I even double checked to make sure the server is up...but client keeps saying error connecting to account manager...any ideas, anyone?

if i'm understanding correctly, you said account manager, you need to select attach to project. hit the add project if your using one of the latest and greatest versions... lol

Thx for the reply zpm...I'm already connected to the project. Looks like I'm trying to do something redundant connecting to the account manager as well, then...? Problem is, I can see the docking at home graphic in my screensaver, with 3 tasks ready to perform (which incidentally weren't there at the time of my last post)& with my preferences set to "always run" & three other projects running along happily, docking@home still sits there during its time share doing absolutely nothing...

for some reason, i wouldn't mess with it, but it'll eventually run... don't worry.

none of your tasks have reported back to the server yet as completed yet, and valid. you must let them run to completion and report back before you get credit.
