I agree j2satx. It's more a resource problem than anything else at the moment. We are not making much progress because of other responsibilities that have to be taken care of. Hopefully when the postdoc will join Michela's group in a couple of weeks (depending on visa approval, etc) things will pick up.

Thanks
Andre

I don't think it's too much to ask to get at least a weekly progress update.

No, not having enough people to work on it is the main reason for not focusing on the low-priority things like web site.

I was just joking about FF by the way...

AK

So making the site look odd and awkward to use for the vast majority of web users is an idea for enhancing the project? Interesting premise.

I have FF, (and Opera here, Konqueror on my Linux machine at work), installed here, (I author web pages and CHECK that they work across platforms before releasing them). I use IE7 because I prefer it.

So be it, project drops a point in my estimation.

That's good to hear. We'll wait for a fix in the boinc code until investigating further.

Thanks, Andre

And I can pretty much confirm it's something in the newest server code. David just updated the BOINC forums and it too is now doing the not reloading of the page using the back button in the browser thing.

Notice the 'This site is best viewed with Firefox' in the right bottom corner of the home page :-)
Next to contributing to research we also hope to get Firefox usage up a couple of percentage points!

Oh fun! Hope Michela will make some inroads in the next years to make charmm less platform-specific.

Still working on the HR stuff. Kind of busy with my 'real-world' job and Abel with his classes that have started. There is hope that a new postdoc will start soon though who can keep this project getting forward more consistently (and faster!). Keep your fingers crossed!

Andre

I've noticed that Walmart is actually selling a Vista system with the Via C7-D cpu. I guess that means another HR class needs to be added.

Message boards : Wish list : Redundant result - Cancelled by server

Is this standard BOINC functionality? If yes, we'll see how to enable that as it seems useful. Thanks Suguru.

AK

I have a same question of this post at BURP:
http://burp.boinc.dk/forum_thread.php?id=973
a number of projects already implemented the "Redundant result - Cancelled by server" feature to speed up the crunching process by cancelling the extra results that haven't been started on clients if/when the client connects for an update. Wouldn't this be a nice feature for BURP, seeing as how there seem to be a lot of results returned after the workunit is validated?

I think this system could work well for Docking@Home, too. When the minimum quorum, 2, is formed, other tasks can be cancelled, if these tasks aren't started yet and the hosts connect for an update.

Message boards : Web site : Thread read indication not working

I thought it worked for me, but I have noticed this now as well: the yellow icons are visible even after having read the thread. Wonder if it has to do with a database field that doesn't get updated correctly. We'll research this a bit more and get hopefully back with a fix.

AK

Still can't get this to work as it should.

When I enter the Forum I am presented with a list of areas of interest.
I select the area I want and enter that to be presented with all the threads available to be read.
Also all the threads that have changed sine I last visited.
I select one of these threads read it, add to it if I want, then exit back to the thread list to see if i want to read any more.

The indicator still shows as if I have not read the thread.

If I then go back to the Forum menu and then re-select the area of interest it then shows that the thread I had read before has no marker and shows I have read it.

I am using Firefox version 2.0.0.12 with Linux Fedora Core 3 on an AMD Opteron 285.

Message boards : Web site : Thread subscription seems not working

Is it supposed to be sending out emails for these subscriptions or is it only RSS?

I subscribe several threads, but notifications via email of new posts seems not working well.

thanks,
suguruhirahara

Okay, I found about it myself.
Notifications are shown on my account page, and the information of each subscription is available via RSS.

Yeah, something seems to have gone wrong with the HR here. It should have been on, but for some reason it didn't. The config file on the server definitely has the option enabled. Might be some new boinc code that we aren't aware of yet; I noticed some new HR stuff in the latest checkout.

AK

May be a HR issue. This project used to require some pretty complicated HR rules. But I don't think this last batch was sent out using HR.
